HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

As a mommy with very limited creativity and just about zero sewing skills, I get very anxious each Halloween!! Even though it is my absolute favorite holiday, having little kids means getting prepared as early as August since the really cute costumes seem to be completely sold out by September!! Ashtyn took it easy on me this year - she fell in love with this gorgeous angel costume in late July and never changed her mind! Poor Tommy though - he desperately wanted to be 'Bam-man' (Batman), but I couldn't find a costume in his size that didn't look cheap and cheesy (dad said the foam 'muscles' were a MUST - they don't make them in size 2). So we kept looking until he saw a photo of this monkey suit. When he saw it, he was so cute - started making little 'ooh-ooh aah-aah' noises and giggling!! Perfect!! Especially since we call him our little monkey! Had a super fun time today with parades at both schools, and looking forward to trick or treating tomorrow!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!!!

Anniversary Countdown

I know that three years does not seem like a very long time. However, when you have searched ( and suffered...) for 35 years prior to find your love/ soul mate/ best friend, every day is something to celebrate!
I am SO excited and looking forward to a few weeks in the Caribbean (Jamaica where we were married) with my sweet smooch to enjoy some couple time and relaxation!
Tom, I just want you to know that I thank God every day for you! You are my love and my life! Just 16 days baby!! Happy Anniversary!

The big decision, big transition...

I have been seriously MIA for a while now, I know. Tom has been struggling for quite some time with work and finally made the HUGE decision to switch careers! Going from security and stability to something that makes him happy(which may or may not have a big payoff)! He has been SO stressed that I told him when the decision was finally made - he was taking a few weeks off (something he NEVER does), with NO phones or electronic devices so that he could finally relax, and we could have him all to ourselves!
That being said, we recently got back from a great family trip, reconnecting as a family! It is amazing how much just having TIME with one another can strengthen your bonds.

"The 4-Block Walk"

Yesterday, it was sunny and just warm enough for one of my FAVORITE family activities - "The 4-block walk"!!!
On Sundays, when the weather is nice, we load the kids in the jogging stroller, grab the puppies, and head down the hill to Sugarhouse Park. If we get an early start (which we usually do), we will go a bit out of the way and hit Einsteins and Starbucks on 15th & 15th for breakfast first. We love sitting outside and making new friends with fellow parents (of both kids and dogs!!). Then off to the park to feed the ducks, let the dogs chase balls and frisbees (and often - the ducks!!), play in the playground, or fly kites! It is such a fun, lazy day - and such great exercise - as we live clear up by Wasatch Blvd!! So it is a good 10 miles round trip. However, it has been affectionately dubbed the "4-block walk" by Tom's father - as the first time we took him along with us, everytime he asked how much further until breakfast, my hubby responded, 'About 4-blocks' - this went on for over 16 blocks!! Such a fun family tradition - we always look forward now to our "4-block walk"!! Thanks Grandpa Greg!!

Iceberg!!!!

Anyone who knows Tom knows of his love of/obsession with ice cream that I believe he inherited from his Grandmother! I don't have much of a sweet tooth - so the kids must have gotten it from him! A trip to Iceberg is a regular occasion with our family - and always a favorite treat!
